Purdue Alumni Club of Kosciusko Presents Scholarships

The Purdue Alumni Club of Kosciusko County is presenting scholarships to three students from the Purdue Scholars of Kosciusko County Fund.

The fund was established through the Kosciusko County Community Foundation to provide financial assistance to deserving students from Kosciusko County who are beginning their third or fourth year at Purdue University.

The Purdue Club announced Megan Hanson, Trenton Marshall and Andrew Shuter as this year’s recipients of the award.

Hanson is being awarded a $750 scholarship. She will be a senior at Purdue University, West Lafayette, studying elementary education, to graduate in December 2013. Hanson is a Warsaw resident, and 2009 graduate of Warsaw Community High School. After graduating from Purdue, she plans to teach in a high need school district.

Marshall is being awarded a $750 scholarship. He will be a junior at Purdue University, studying acoustical engineering, to graduate in May 2014. Marshall is a Winona Lake resident, and 2010 graduate of Warsaw Community High School. After graduating from Purdue, he plans to enter the audio technology industry.

Shuter is being awarded a $500 scholarship. He will be a junior at Purdue University, majoring in elementary education, to graduate in 2015. Shuter is a Warsaw resident, 2010 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and serves with the Indiana Army National Guard. After graduating from Purdue, he plans to teach in the Kosciusko County area.

The scholarship recipients will be recognized at the 10th annual meeting of the Purdue Alumni Club of Kosciusko County Sept. 18 at Maple Leaf Farms World Headquarters, 101 E. Church St., Leesburg.

Tours of the facility and hors d’oeuvres will be offered at 6 p.m., followed by the business meeting and dinner at 7 p.m. Dr. Terry Tucker of Maple Leaf Farms will be the speaker.

To conclude the evening, Purdue-themed items will be auctioned to benefit the Purdue Scholars of Kosciusko County Fund for future scholarships.
