It appears there will be a sewer system at the Barbee Chain of Lakes by the end of 2013.
Councilman Bob Sanders gave that information during Thursday night's Kosciusko County Council meeting.
Sanders, who serves on the board as a county appointment, said that at the Lakeland Regional Sewer District meeting last week, the project has earned funding and an engineering report is ongoing.
The final engineering phase will also identify what areas will require sewers as well as looking at things like easements.
The council approved several appropriations and transfers during its monthly meeting.
A transfer request from the highway department for $2,271.33 was approved. The money will come out of reimbursement insurance and go to repair and maintenance.
Local Emergency Planning was approved for a $717.35 transfer from emergency supplies to administrative communication equipment. THe transfer is to replace a laptop for the department.
LEPC chairman Gary McDaniel, who has served in that position since 2005, invited the council as well as the county commissioners to the board's next meeting May 13.
A dispatcher retired so a transfer of $4,687 was approved to help fill the position.
An appropriation of $12,000 was approved for the recorder's office to image older documents to cut down on the wear and tear of them.
They include old deeds, military discharge and miscellaneous paperwork.
Judge Rex Reed appeared before the council to get an appropriation of $2,752 approved.
Reed said a court secretary position has recently come open and that person leaving that position earned $2,752 in sick pay and vacation days that were left over.
Council president Tom Anglin reminded county employees that their appreciation breakfast is April 29 from 6 to 8 a.m.
Sheriff Rocky Goshert gave 2010 statistics and a jail inspection report to council members. He presented the same information to the commissioners Tuesday. Goshert said the jail inspection went "very well".
Council members are Doug Heinisch, John Kinsey, Larry Teghtmeyer, Tom Anglin, Bob Sanders, James Moyer and Brad Tandy.
Tandy was absent from Thursday’s meeting.
The council’s next meeting is May 12 in the old courtroom at the Kosciusko County Courthouse.[[In-content Ad]]
