People not currently registered to vote can do so at the Kosciusko County Clerk's office, 121 N. Lake St., at the Justice Building Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Those registering to vote are required to bring their driver's license number or last four digits of their social security number.

In Indiana, the voter does not need to provide their party affiliation at the time they register to vote, according to Chief Deputy Clerk Ann Torpy. However, if they want to vote at a primary election they must ask for a Democrat or Republican ballot.

Someone who registers to vote through the mail will need to mail in a copy of either their driver's license, current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document.

People also may register to vote at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

A person who needs to change their name or address on their voter registration record can apply in person at the Kosciusko County clerk's office.

The first day of absentee voting in the Kosciusko County Clerk's office is Monday, beginning at 8 a.m. People who want an application for absentee voting should call 574-372-2334.

The last day to vote absentee in the clerk's office is May 5 at noon.

Disabled voters may request an absentee ballot be delivered to them. The absentee travel board will deliver the ballot close to the election and later pick it up and take it to the absentee office.

People have the right to vote in Indiana if they are a U.S. citizen and an Indiana resident; will be at least 18 years of age on or before the November election; are not currently in prison after being convicted of a crime; have lived in the precinct where they vote for at least 30 days prior to the election and are registered to vote.
