PP Promotes Sex

This is in response to the recent letter referring to Planned Parenthood and the men standing outside. This letter is not meant to discuss the pros and cons of birth control, except to say that the letter writer should know that birth control is never 100-percent effective, and so "affordable birth control" isn't the magic cure to stop abortions.
The letter writer described the men outside Planned Parenthood as light-skinned, middle-aged and male (thanks for not mentioning that one was also bald-headed). The description of the men seems to imply that only a minority, woman, of child-bearing age can be a participant in any discussion of abortion or Planned Parenthood. The truth is that it doesn't take an African-American or Hispanic female to know that Planned Parenthood, although providing some regular health services, is the largest abortion provider in the country (289,750 abortions reported in its 2006-2007 report). Unfortunately, all Americans, whether they agree with Planned Parenthood's mission or not, support it through their tax dollars. This "charitable" organization reported a total income of $1 billion in its 2006-2007 annual report. Planned Parenthood received $336.7 million of our tax dollars in that same period.
Planned Parenthood makes money from promoting sexual activity - much of it directed at teens. All one has to do is spend a few minutes on their teenwire Web site to see that the organization encourages promiscuous teen sex - sex that will generate income through birth control, STD testing and treatment, pregnancy tests and abortions. I am sure that many people would be surprised at some of the nearly pornographic articles found on the Web site.
A statement from an article by Colin Mason (Population Research Institute) says it best: "Research shows that teens respond when challenged to be chaste and reject promiscuity. But Planned Parenthood will have none of this. And why should they? This year, they will make $336 million dollars of tax money to promote sterile sex and a contraceptive mentality. And when contraception fails, they benefit as well, by selling abortions."
