In case you haven't noticed, our country is in a state of crisis. Unemployment is skyrocketing day by day, people are losing everything, more homeless shelters are needed and our new president of less than 60 days is throwing us into even more financial ruins.

In case you don't remember, in his inaugural address Obama said, "We have chosen hope over fear." Now he is trying to use fear tactics to pass his stimulus bill immediately. When someone makes me an offer but I have to take it now I know there is a catch.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said if Obama was elected there would be no more pork? http://www.onenewsnow.com/Blog/Default.aspx?id=410158

There is so much pork in this stimulus bill that even the Republicans aren't buying into it. As if that isn't enough, now they are trying to ban talk radio, the very people that are letting us know what is really going on behind closed doors. Does that tell you anything? Here are a few examples of pork in this bill:

Two hundred million dollars for plug-in car stations. Now I ask you, do you know someone who has a car that needs to be "plugged in"?

Three hundred thirty five million dollars for STD education and prevention. Isn't this a parent's job? Recent government expenditures in this area include a transgender beauty pageant in San Francisco that advertised available HIV testing and an event called "Got Love? - Flirt/Date/Score" that taught participants how "to flirt with greater finesse." Give me a break. Is this really necessary? I fail to see how this will "stimulate" our economy except for those doing the teaching and those manufacturing condoms.

Fifty four billion dollars will go to federal programs that the Office of Management and Budget or the Government Accountability Office have already criticized as "ineffective" or unable to pass basic financial audits.

Two hundred twenty seven million dollars for oversight of the pork barrel spending in the stimulus. Is this for real?

If you want to see more pork, go to: http://www.afa.net/pdfs/porkandpayoffs.pdf

If you want to phone the White House objecting to the stimulus bill, the number is: 202-224-3121

If you want to contact your representatives, go to this site: http://www.ourcountrydeservesbetter.com/issues/stopstimulus.html

Every state is listed. If you don't have e-mail here are their phone numbers:

Senator Evan Bayh, Democrat, D.C. phone 202-224-5623, D.C. Fax 202-228-1377, Indianapolis Phone 317-554-0750, Indianapolis Fax 317-554-0760; Senator Richard Lugar, Republican, D.C. phone 202-224-4814, D.C. fax 202-228-0360, Indianapolis phone 317-226-5555, Indianapolis fax 317-226-5508.

You wouldn't believe how many people have been contacting our government leaders so far. We don't need the pork, we need a real stimulus package that will get us out of financial ruin. If all this isn't enough to make your blood boil, then you aren't an American. If it does, call your elected officials now, the timing is crucial.

Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are for people over the age of 70.5 years old. Unlike other distributions, which are taxed at ordinary income tax rates, Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) allow for a tax-free distribution from an IRA, provided that the distribution goes directly to a qualified charity.
