CLAYPOOL - Indiana State Police and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. deputies placed a man into protective custody for a mental evaluation Wednesday evening after he reportedly showed up at an acquaintance’s home.

Units were called around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to a home at 7647 S. CR 700W, Claypool, for what state police spokesman Sgt. Trent Smith described as a “mental investigation” of a man that came to the home. Smith said the man knew the resident of the home, though the details of that relationship were not released.

Police took the man into protective custody just after 9 p.m., Smith said. He does not face charges, Smith said, and is being evaluated at Kosciusko Community Hospital.

Smith would not release the identity of the man, saying the case is a mental investigation. He would not release any other details.[[In-content Ad]]
