MILFORD - Police confiscated almost $8,000 and a pound of marijuana in two coinciding raids Tuesday night on Milford's east side.

Milford Police Department, with assistance from Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, served search warrants at 9 p.m. at a house at 107 East St. and a mobile home at 317 E. Smith St.

The searches, which are the result of more than a year of surveillance, yielded four adult arrests and one juvenile detention.

Authorities at the trailer kicked in the door when residents refused to open it.

Once police secured the three adults at the mobile home, North Webster's K-9 unit searched the residence and located more than 30 grams of pot and a bag containing $7,860. Kosciusko County Prosecutor David Kolbe said he was surprised at the amount of cash found in the home.

Booked into Kosciusko County Jail from the raid on the mobile home were:

4 Orlando Vallejo, 20, of 317 E. Smith St., Milford. He was charged with possession of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance.

jj Joan Marie Michael, 20, of 11240 CR 650E, Syracuse, charged with visiting a common nusiance.

jj Patrick Lee Maloney, 20, of 317 E. Smith St., Milford, charged with maintaining a common nuisance.

At the Smith Street raid police reportedly found Joseph Olevio, 17, an alleged dealer, hiding in an upstairs closet.

Police confiscated $180 from Olevio, but found no drugs in his possession. He is being held in a juvenile detention center out of the county.

One adult was arrested at Smith Street. Jason Robert Heinrich, 19, of 909 N. Main St., Milford, was charged with illegal possession or consumption of alcohol by a minor.

"We have enough controlled substance here to try for felony counts of visiting a common nuisance," said Milford Marshal Dave Hobbs. The search warrants were the result of investigations by the MPD and tips from Milford residents.

Also charged in connection with the searches will be Phillip Burkee, 48, the homeowner of the Smith Street address. Burkee, who has a prior count of false informing, will be charged with a felony count of maintaining a common nuisance, according to Hobbs.

Four juveniles and one adult at the house will be charged with misdemeanor counts of visiting a common nuisance. The juveniles were transported to Kosciusko County Jail for drug testing.

Small amounts of pot were reportedly found at the house, along with drug paraphernalia and marijuana cigarette butts. Police said they also confiscated a bag of paraphernalia from the mobile home.

Police expected to find weapons at the Smith Street house. No weapons were found at either residence.

Assisting at the scene were Kolbe, Deputy Prosecutor Byron Tinkey, and Ruth Hoffer, Kosciusko County probation director. [[In-content Ad]]
