A Saturday meth lab discovery and drug arrests resulted in the resolution of several recent theft cases in Warsaw.
Suspects Charles Dove, 28, Warsaw, and Jason Sheppard, 33, Roann, were arrested at a residence on South Detroit Street, Warsaw, on Saturday.
The subsequent investigation and stolen property led police to resolve a June 29 theft from Dollar General Store on East Market Street, a June 29 break-in and theft at the Short Stop on South Buffalo Street, a June theft from a U-Store-It on East Winona Avenue in Warsaw, as well as a March theft from a vehicle at a Country Club Drive, Warsaw, residence.
Items recovered at the original meth lab residence, as well as other homes subsequently, were a direct result of the meth lab arrests resulting in the drug charges against Dove and Sheppard.
Dove and Sheppard allegedly admitted their involvement in most of the listed thefts. Other persons are expected to be charged as a result of the investigation.
Drug Bust at Economy Inn
Warsaw police were involved in a drug investigation Tuesday at a local motel.
While at the Economy Inn, 3521 Lake City Highway, Warsaw, on an unrelated matter, police noticed the strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from a room.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of Blaine Allen Sawyer, 44, of Edwardsburg, Mich.
Seized in the arrest was 382 grams, or 13.47 ounces, of marijuana, an undisclosed amount of cash and a vehicle.
The amount of marijuana and packaging indicated Sawyer was involved in dealing marijuana. He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail for dealing marijuana, a Class C felony, with no initial bond given.
Warsaw police continue to investigate this matter. They were assisted by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
