Theft at Dealership
On Saturday at 10:35 p.m., Warsaw Police responded to a burglary in progress at M&J Auto Services located at 1511 W. Lake Street in Warsaw.

Upon arrival, an officer observed a person in dark clothing walking eastbound away from some tires near the fence of the business. Upon observing another police officer, the suspect ran southwest and was immediately taken into custody. Rico Valdez, 19, of 820 Wexford Place, Warsaw, was arrested.

The investigation found a door on the side of the business that had been pried open to gain access to the business. A step ladder was then used to prop open a garage door to remove the tires.

In his statement, Valdez said that this was retaliation toward the business for work they had done that he was not happy with.

Valdez was transported and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on felony charges of burglary and theft.

Marijuana Bust at Hotel
On Sunday at 5:05 p.m., Kosciusko Central Dispatch received an anonymous tip that Hector Martinez was in room 214 at the Economy Inn in Warsaw.

Dispatch was also informed and that he had several outstanding felony warrants and may have drugs in the room. Warsaw Police responded to the Economy Inn located at 3521 Lake City Highway, Warsaw, and confirmed two felony warrants for Hector Martinez, 42 , out of Kosciusko County for failure to appear and for driving while intoxicated.

Martinez answered the motel room door and as officers entered the room, they observed a partially smoked marijuana cigarette in the ash tray that Martinez tried to hide. Upon handcuffing and searching Martinez, officers located a clear plastic baggy containing marijuana in his left front pocket. Further investigation found a cooler filled with fourteen individual bags of processed marijuana totaling more than 15 ounces.

In a statement to police, Martinez said that the economy was bad and he couldn’t afford to buy pants, so he was selling the marijuana for $100.00 a bag.

Martinez lives at the Economy Inn and was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on the two outstanding felony warrants and for felony dealing in marijuana.

Early Morning Pursuit
On Monday at 4:42 a.m. Warsaw Police attempted to stop a maroon 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix after an officer observed the vehicle speeding southbound and driving left of center on South Buffalo Street.

WPD arrested Gerardo Montes, 22, of 2441 W. CR 250S, Warsaw, and booked him into the Kosciusko County Jail on charges of driving while intoxicated and fleeing/resisting law enforcement.  

Officers pursued the vehicle southbound with lights and sirens activated but the vehicle showed no signs of slowing or stopping. Warsaw Police pursued the vehicle at speeds not exceeding 40 miles per hour as the vehicle continued down CR 200S, Ferguson Road, and CR 250S, until it reached Hideaway Hills Mobile Home Park.

The Pontiac stopped in front of lot 20 and the driver exited the vehicle. The driver failed to follow commands from police officers, was belligerent, and appeared to be intoxicated.

When officers attempted to take Montes into custody, he resisted and fought with officers. He was taken into custody after being tased.

Montes was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail and tested for intoxication, which showed a 0.10 percent blood alcohol content.[[In-content Ad]]
