Former Bank Employee Jailed for Fraud
A former employee of the Milford PNC bank location was arrested for fraud of a financial institution Tuesday night after she allegedly admitted taking more than $17,000 from people’s accounts.

According to court documents, officers with the Milford Police Department spoke with an investigator for PNC Bank.

The bank investigator told police an internal investigation found that a theft occurred at PNC’s Milford branch, 127 N. Main St. in Milford.

Former employee Michelle Lee Buie, 39, of 208 Stonewall Court, Nappanee, allegedly admitted to the bank investigator and police she took money from her bank drawer.

On Oct. 13, the bank investigator noted that one customer had $9,000 taken from an account after Buie forged a withdraw ticket and another account had $900 taken from it.

The $900 was taken from the account Nov. 7.

Buie allegedly admitted to police that she took $8,000 from a third account but later paid that back.

Buie was booked into Kosciusko County Jail on $5,000 bond.

Gas Station Broken into Twice in Five Days

Warsaw Police responded to a report of a break-in this morning at the Phillips 66 gas station in Warsaw, 2518 E. Center St., that strongly resembled a break-in to the same gas station several days earlier.

According to a police report, the gas station reported doors were busted in and cigarettes and glass smoking pipes were stolen this morning.

Police arrived at the gas station around 1:36 a.m. today.

The report stated that today’s break-in caused $1,000 in damage to the building.

On Saturday, Warsaw police responded to the Phillips 66 on a report of a break-in.

That report also stated the building sustained $1,000 in damage and that cigarettes were stolen from the gas station.

That break-in Saturday was reported to police at 3:36 a.m.

The report on the Saturday break-in noted that a rock may have been used to enter the building while the report this morning noted that hands and feet may have been used to break-in.[[In-content Ad]]
