The investigation of the fire that destroyed Tascas, a new eatery in Warsaw, remains under investigation.
Warsaw police and fire departments are working in conjunction with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms on the blaze that occurred at 4 a.m. Sunday.
According to a police report, gas cans and flammable liquids were found in the building.[[In-content Ad]]Scanner traffic from the blaze indicated the back door was open when fire and police crews arrived.
Calls to the ATF were not returned as of this morning.
18-Year-Old Detained After Escape
AKRON - An Akron teen who was helping officers in undercover drug investigations tried to flee Monday afternoon.
Trevor Williams, 18, of 1173 N. Lakeshore Drive, Akron, was taken from the Fulton County Jail, where he had been since Sept. 30, to an Akron home.
Williams was given money to buy drugs and equipped with a hidden microphone. After several minutes, Williams allegedly fled the home and got rid of the microphone.
Williams was located 15 minutes after he fled near CRs 650E and 250S after receiving a tip that Williams was hiding in a barn.
Williams was charged with an escape charge and theft charge for fleeing with the money cops gave him to buy drugs.
Williams was facing arson and burglary charges in Fulton County.
Williams was a survivor of a May 31 wreck on Ind. 14 north of Division Road in Akron that took the life of Brandon D. Keller, 18, Rochester.
Williams suffered a head injury and was hospitalized at Parkview in Fort Wayne.
Milford Man Arrested in Church Burglaries
MILFORD - A Milford man in in jail for allegedly being involved in two burglaries of the same church.
Santiago C. Gonzales, 22, of 312 E. Syracuse St., Milford, was booked into Kosciusko County Jail at 12:54 p.m. Tuesday on a $50,000 bond.
According to Milford Town Marshal Rich Miotto, Gonzalez is believed to have broken into Word Of Truth Ministries Church, 210 E. Catherine St., Milford, on Sept. 18 and on Monday night.
On Sept. 18, a computer and other items were taken from the church and eventually sold to a pawn shop.
Gonzalez was located a block from his residence and booked into KCJ on a burglary to a church warrant.
Miotto said that more than $1,000 of items were taken.
After the second break-in, a computer and cell phone were taken.
Miotto stated both burglaries were committed late at night.
A second charge of burglary of a church is currently being investigated by the Milford Police Department and the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office advises that the defendant's charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Two Dumpster Fires Reported
Two more dumpster fires in Warsaw were attended to today.
The first report came at 3:49 this morning at a dumpster in an alley behind 533 E. Center St., Warsaw.
The owner of that dumpster was not known as of this morning.
Another dumpster fire was reported at 4:16 a.m. today at a dumpster behind Lakeland Financial, 113 E. Market St., Warsaw.
The estimated damage to both dumpster is $1,600.
The incident remains under investigation.
Sidney Woman Injured In Motorcycle Wreck
PIERCETON - Two people were injured in a motorcycle accident in Pierceton Monday afternoon.
According to an accident report at the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, William E. Goble, 39, East Center Street, Sidney, was northbound on Ind. 13 around 4:11 p.m. Monday when a deflated rear tire caused him to lose control of the motorcycle and go off the road, 500 feet east of CR 500S.
Goble complained of leg pain.
Lisa L. Tranter, 34, East Center Street, Sidney, complained of chest pain and was taken by Samaritan Air Ambulance.
Tranter wasn't listed in either Parkview or Lutheran hospitals' directories this morning.
