Police Arrest Man Implicated in Several Thefts

Over the past two weeks, the Warsaw Police Department has investigated more than two dozen thefts from parked vehicles in Warsaw.

The articles taken vary from purses and wallets, to laptop computers and electronics. On Friday, Warsaw Police arrested Gene M. Poe, 28, of 316 S. Washington Street, Warsaw, with criminal trespass after one of the victim’s identified Poe to police after observing him in his vehicle.

Articles in  Poe’s pockets implicate him in several other thefts and additional charges are expected. Additional charges for other suspects are also expected.

A majority of the thefts have occurred to unlocked vehicles at or near the owner’s residence. Some vehicles were broken into to gain access when the article was visible. Warsaw Police want to remind residents to lock their vehicles, even while at home. The best practice is to not leave purses, wallets, or electronics of any kind in vehicles when unattended.
