After 53 years, Dennis Plummer (R) is retiring from the Times-Union as comptroller. A celebration of his retirement is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the banquet room at Mad Anthony’s. Plummer’s start date at the newspaper was Sept. 1, 1962. He was born in Warsaw at the McDonald Hospital on Nov. 22, 1940. He graduated from Atwood High School in 1959, and then went on to International Business College in Fort Wayne, earning his associate’s degree in accounting. In 1963 through 1969, he was a member of the Indiana Army National Guard out of Warsaw. Sherrill and Dennis were married on March 17, 1963, and she passed in 2008. Sherrill taught English at the Warsaw Middle School. They had two daughters, MaryBeth Garcia and Nancy Joan Boucher, and three grandchildren.
