By Staff Report-

A chance to see fire trucks, helicopters and police dogs is just a small sampling of what’s in store at the 2011 Play It Safe Family Safety Day.

The event is sponsored by Kosciusko REMC and the Warsaw/Wayne Fire Territory.

This year’s festivities are scheduled for Sept. 10, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at Warsaw’s Central Park and Center Lake Pavilion.

This is the fourth year that KREMC and the Warsaw/Wayne Fire Territory have worked together to sponsor Play It Safe Family Safety Day.

The event also is supported in 2011 with funding from the K-21 Foundation and the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, along with financial and product donations from area businesses, including: Allegra Printing, Biomet Inc., DePuy, Donan Engineering, Grossnickle Eye Center, McDonald’s Restaurants, Medtronic Inc., North Pointe Cinemas, Paragon Medical, Papa John’s Pizza and Sugar Land Bakery.

This year’s Play It Safe Family Safety Day will offer a wide variety of activities devoted to health and safety.

“We’re really excited about the new activities we’ll be offering this year, thanks to some generous grants from community foundations,” said Shirley Fetrow, event coordinator for the Warsaw/Wayne Fire Territory.

Warsaw Fire Chief Mike Rice said working together with so many community organizations and businesses has made Play It Safe Family Safety Day a great success.

“This is an important day for us to get the word out about health and safety issues, and it’s a fun way to do it,” Rice said. “We really appreciate area residents bringing out their kids so we can help them learn the important safety lessons they need to understand.”

Doris Lemert, Kosciusko REMC communication specialist, said he hopes members and the community turn out to for the event.

“The whole family will enjoy this fun day, and all the activities are free. KREMC places a top priority on safety, and we want everyone to learn how they can stay safe every day,” Lemert said.[[In-content Ad]]
