Play it Safe Family Safety Day Set for September

The annual Play It Safe Family Safety Day has been planned.

The event is Sept. 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Central Park.

Activities include free Safe Assured identification kits provided by Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club, Francine’s Friends Mobile Mammography and a Kosciusko Community Hospital Health and Safety tent.

A YMCA program stage, helicopter landings and departures by Parkview Hospital’s Samaritan and Lutheran Hospital’s Air Helicopters are planned.

There also will be emergency vehicle displays with fire trucks, ambulances, police cars and helicopters.

A zip line and boat rides by the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory will be available, as will a fire safety Save-A-Life trailer and hazards obstacle course.

There will be bucket truck rides and demonstrations by Kosciusko REMC, South Bend Memorial Hospital’s HealthWorks Hummer and Kohl’s Fit Festival games.

Free Build and Grow activity kits will be provided by Lowe’s.

There will be free make-and-take first aid kits and K-9 demonstrations.

A safety show will be presented by Ronald McDonald.

There will be health and safety organization booths, displays and giveaways.

Attendees can meet fire, police, electric linemen, conservation officers and emergency management technicians.

Sparky The Fire Dog and Daren the DARE Lion will be on hand.

There will be free face painting, balloons and sculptures by the Shrine clowns and free kids games.

Attendees can register to win a free bike and there will be safety door prizes.

There will be free popcorn courtesy of North Pointe Cinemas.
