The plan commission unanimously approved a development of land at Shadow Lakes subdivision near Warsaw.
A final plat was also approved for Knepp Subdivision located on CR 300E off CR 1300N.
The subdivision will have four lots with an average size of about four acres per lot.
Don Impey petitioned to rezone ground from an agricultural district to a residential district. The property is on the south side of Ind.13 and 2,300 feet west of CR 650E in Turkey Creek Township.
Impey said he is looking to build a home on the property.
During discussion, the commission was told the technical committee had questions about whether there was a suitable area for a second septic system on the property.
There already is a home on the property.
Impey was directed to get with the Department of Natural Resources as well as the county's health department, and the hearing was continued to the plan commission's January meeting.
The commission approved a preliminary plat approval for a residential development on a 5.773-acre tract of ground. The property is on the south side of Old 30 about 4,700 feet west of CR 450 in Wayne Township.
Attorney Steve Snyder appeared for petitioner Scott Miller.
Snyder said the only difference between how the property is visible now and how it will be with two new properties on it is the appearance of a new driveway.
The new properties will be set back 50 feet off the road near a wooded area.
Mark Tipton, who resides near the new development, said he wanted to be on record that he was against expansion of further developments.
"The division you live in is an example of a residential development," said commission member Kevin McSherry. "I understand where you come from but it's a tough fight to fight."
The plan commission's next meeting is Jan. 6 at 1 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
