Plan Now For Your New Year Celebration

New Year's Eve is less than two weeks away, but now is the time to make plans.

Local restaurants and hotels are taking reservations and they are going fast.

Barbee Hotel Bar & Grill will have two dinner seatings on New Year's Eve. The first is from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a limited menu. Prices are available on the menu.

The second dinner seating will begin at 8 p.m. The charge is $49.95 per person and includes dinner, appetizers, party favors and champagne at midnight. The duet "McV" will perform.

Reservations can be made by calling 834-2984.

The Ramada Inn is offering a special package for guests on New Year's Eve.

The package includes three buffets, party favors and champagne at midnight. The buffets are for dinner, midnight and breakfast. The band "Fanatics" will perform.

The cost is $199.99 and includes either a king or two double rooms.

Reservations can be made by calling 269-2323.

Orion's Restaurant will have a gourmet buffet on New Year's Eve until 10 p.m. The menu includes shrimp and oysters on the half-shell for appetizers and prime rib for the main course, among other things.

John Strader will perform as a table-side magician.

"He's simply wonderful," said April O'Neill, operations manager.

Reservations are being taken now and can be made by calling 269-9100. O'Neill said reservations are already filling up and will especially fill up a day or two after Christmas.

Melody Ray will sing and play the piano at Rozella Ford on New Year's Eve. She will perform from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

A prime rib buffet with all the fixings and champagne will be served. It is open to the public but interested persons should make reservations by calling 269-7193.

If people are interested in something more physical, they may want to consider "extreme bowling" at Gilliam Bowling Lanes.

Extreme bowling begins at 7 p.m. New Year's Eve and lasts until at least 1 a.m. The lights at the bowling alley are all turned off and the black lights are turned on, making everything glow.

Gilliam Lanes has 16 bowling lanes, serves beer and has a snack bar available as well as a game room.

Reservations for extreme bowling on New Year's Eve are required and can be made by calling 267-8313.

Gilliam Lanes is also having a special from Dec. 21 to Jan. 3 in which games will cost only 99 cents each.

Wawasee Bowl, Syracuse, will host their annual New Year's Eve party again this year.

The party begins at 9 p.m. and is $25 per couple. Included are four games, a buffet and prizes. There will be two couples per lane.

"The last five years, they have been full," said Jeremy Yoder, operations manager.

Joe Chester, owner and operations of East Lake Skate Center, said, "We are having an all-night lock-in for children."

The lock-in will be from 7 p.m. New Year's Eve to 6 a.m.New Year's Day

There will be hats, noismakers, a stuffed animal giveaway, games, prizes, sock dancing and a midnight countdown. Adult supervision will be there and parents can come in anytime, but must enter the building to get their children when they are ready.

Admission will be $15 with necessary skate rental at $1.50. If the child has their own skates, they will not need to rent them.
