The amendment, which is under section 3.14 Height Regulations in the county’s ordinances, states that all structures are subject to air space control height and use restrictions surrounding airports per Federal Aviation Administration.
This protects any public or private airstrip recognized by the FAA and approved by the Kosciusko County zoning ordinance.
This not only includes the Warsaw airport but landing strips in areas around the county that include parts of lakes where the landing of seaplanes is allowed.
The plan commission also approved two preliminary plats for Martin and Edna Dider.
One is located on a tract of ground on the north side of Cornelius Road and east of Eastshore Drive in Turkey Creek Township.
The other is a 7.268 acres tract of ground on the northside of Cornelius Road, west of Eastshore Drive.
Both had been approved previously, but under the condition that they were developed with public sewer.
Since that is not currently in consideration they came back to get a new preliminary plat.
The two tracts will have a combined seven lots on them.
A vacation request that was tabled by the plan commission was found to have already been vacated.
Steven A. and Michelle Zawadzki asked the plan commission to vacate a portion of Forest Glen Avenue (T23 lane) off Tippecanoe Lake.
Other portions of the road had already been vacated.
After the matter had been tabled to get more information on it, attorney Steve Snyder, who was representing the Zawadzkis, researched it and before the meeting was over said he found it had been vacated in 1985.
The Plan Commission moved closer to having a new member Wednesday afternoon.
After its regular meeting, the Advisory Council on Town Affairs met.
It’s comprised of five smaller towns that are served by the plan commission.
They are Claypool, Etna Green, Pierceton, North Webster and Silver Lake.
It’s preferred that a member of one of those town councils serves on the plan commission.
A position came open after Vic Virgil announced his resignation from the plan commission effective April 19.
Virgil had served on the plan commission since 1974 but had to step down due to health issues.
Area Plan Director Dan Richard said Virgil’s “valuable knowledge, experience, work ethic and compromising temperament will be greatly missed can cannot be replaced.”
During the advisory council meeting, Pierceton town councilman Jerry Kreger expressed interest in serving on the board.
Since all five towns weren’t present for Wednesday afternoon’s meeting, a letter will be sent out to see if a consensus could be reached to name Kreger to the board.
The position comes with an $80-a-month stipend and reimbursement for gas.[[In-content Ad]]
