Max Reed and 1st Source Bank, as co-trustees for Dolores Pittenger, announced the bequest of $78,623 from the William and Dolores A. Pittenger Trust to the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund.

The primary purpose of this fund is to relieve some of the financial strain that often accompanies cancer.

Bill and Dolores were lifetime residents of Warsaw, with the exception of the time spent in Texas while Bill was serving as a major in the US Air Force during World War II.

Bill and Dolores were active in the community. Bill was a member of the Warsaw Elks and American Legion Post 49. Dolores belonged to Eastern Star, Lamba Chi Omega Sorority and Warsaw Ladies Bowling Association. Both were lifetime members of the First United Methodist Church.

For more than 50 years Bill operated an auto sales lot in the community.

"The gift from the estate is very generous and couldn't have come at a better time," said Richard A. Haddad, president of the K21 Health Foundation.

"The Fund has provided over $1 million in assistance to financially eligible residents in our county who are suffering from cancer. In recent years the need has outpaced the funds raised. Estate gifts are a critical supplement to the effort made each year by those in our county supporting the fund. I hope the Pittenger's generosity will provide inspiration to others to leave a legacy in this community by leaving gifts to the Cancer Care Fund," Haddad concluded.[[In-content Ad]]With the assistance of their attorney, financial advisor and the K21 Health Foundation's Cancer Care Fund, The Pittenger's charitable dreams will shine forever for the good of the community.
