Through the end of the month, Kerlin’s Western and Work Wear will donate 10 percent from the purchase of anything pink to the Kosciusko Cancer Care Fund, as well as giving a 10-percent discount.
Anything, even if it has only a little pink on it. Or is anywhere close to pink.
“We want to give as much as we can. We’re very lenient,” said store owner Valerie Warner, holding up a pair of shoes with purple insoles in the store east of Warsaw at 3298 U.S. 30. “Every department has something pink.”
Behind her was a display of cowboy boots, shirts, jeans and handkerchiefs all containing at least a dash of pink. Other qualifying items include hats, belts, jackets, mugs and purses, and even reins, a toy gun and a pink hoof pick. The promotion applies online as well, at shopkerlins.com, using the promo code “pink” at checkout.
She and employee Nick Prentice both highlighted the “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” line of Wrangler clothing, which they said is specific to independent western wear retailers. The company donates to the American Cancer Society whenever a retailer orders items from the line.
Kerlin’s will tally up all the pink purchases at the end of the month then give a portion of that to the cancer fund,  Prentice explained. The fund provides assistance such as rent and utilities to financially eligible Kosciusko residents with cancer.
“What I like about the idea is that we’re helping out nationally and locally and giving back to the customer, too. It gets the customer involved,” he said.[[In-content Ad]]
