Skyler Alan Cone, 23, of 7912 E. CR 150S, Pierceton, faces preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a legend, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and theft, following a Wednesday evening run-in with Warsaw police. He is being held at Kosciusko County Jail in lieu of a $2,000 bond.
According to Lt. Kip Shuter of the Warsaw Police Department, police were called just before 7:30 p.m. to the Menards at 1000 Husky Trail on a report of a shoplifter after store management watched a man take lithium batteries from their package and pocket them. The man – Cone – was stopped by store officials and held in a security office until police arrived, Shuter said.
Police then patted down Cone, and turned up a box of Suphedrine. Cone told officers he’d just bought the medicine at a store, Shuter said.
The lithium strips from lithium batters and Suphedrine are common meth-making materials.
During the investigation, Menards management told police that Cone had arrived at the store in a vehicle with a woman. Police then found that car, and a subsequent K-9 search pointed officers to probable narcotics inside, Shuter said.
The unidentified woman reportedly told police no drugs were in the car, but said she did not know what was in Cone’s bag. Police found a pipe with burnt marijuana residue, a syringe and powdered meth, as well as prescription pills assigned to another person, according to Shuter.
The woman was not arrested or charged.
Cone has a spotted criminal history, with arrests for conversion and theft in 2006 and for possession of a controlled substance last year, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department records show. He also had various juvenile charges.[[In-content Ad]]
