PIERCETON - Pierceton Elementary School will hold its annual Spirit Days parade Friday.

Beginning at 1:30 p.m. the children will walk down Third Street to Market Street to Seventh Street and back to the school.

The police department squad car will accompany the students, according to town marshal George Alexander. The marshal presented the information regarding the parade to town council members Monday.

The fire department also will escort the kids, Pierceton Fire Department Chief Gene Burkett told the board.

Councilmen Jerry Kreger, Ron Hall and Terry Hill held a short October meeting Monday, setting Halloween hours for 6 to 8 p.m. The board also approved a change order of $415 for a change in sidewalk at the community-town building under construction.

Burkett asked for a tour inside the building, which is still in the framing stage, and was advised a construction meeting was set for 2 p.m. Monday.

In other business:

• A chili supper is set for 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 28 by the fire department. Proceeds will go toward purchase of a thermal imager.

• Leaf pickup by the street department will be as follows: Mondays - south of Catholic Street and west of First Street; Wednesdays - south of Catholic Street and east of First Street; and Thursdays - north of Catholic.

As always, leaves must be placed as close to the road as possible and away from utility poles, signs, mailboxes, etc. Leaves must be at the roadside before 10 a.m.

The town council meets the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in town hall. [[In-content Ad]]
