A driver unfamiliar with the area ended up parking a friend's pickup in Pike Lake early Sunday morning. Eduardo Palos Vazquez, 25, of East Main Street, Warsaw, was cited for leaving the scene of the accident after skidding into the water off the end of Bluewater Drive, a dead-end street on the north side of the lake. The accident was reported at 2:44 a.m. Sunday by a resident who heard the vehicle skid and splash into the water. Pictured riding back to shore in the bed of the pickup are Warsaw Police Department divers Chuck Hodges and Clay Layne. The vehicle was recovered 30 yards off shore in about 5 feet of water with the headlights and taillights still illuminated. Although Vazquez fled the scene and no one was found in the truck, he later went to the police station to tell officers he was the driver. Vazquez was cited for leaving the scene of an accident. Vazquez told police he didn't know he was on a dead-end street and didn't see the lake until it was too late. Photo by Gary Nieter, Times-Union[[In-content Ad]]
