Phyllis Porter, 95, died at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 16, 2010, in Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, where she resided.

She was born July 21, 1915, in Elgin, Neb., to Ralph and Pearl Wood Martin. On July 6, 1935, she married Lowell Dean Porter, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker. She moved to Winona Lake from Long Beach, Calif., in 2005. She was a past member of North Long Beach Brethren Church and Leisure World Baptist Church, Seal Beach, Calif., and recently attended Pleasant View Bible Church, Warsaw. She was a Sunday school and Child Evangelism teacher for many years and was involved in church choirs.

Surviving are a son, Dr. Ralph (and spouse Helen) Porter, Warsaw; a daughter, Linda (and spouse Al) Rice, Apple Valley, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother.

No local services are planned.

Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
