Phyllis LaWanda Sundheimer, 90, died at 4:22 a.m. Oct. 12, 2012, in her residence at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.
She was born March 19, 1922, in Chicago, Ill., to Thurl T. and Eva Rae Study Whetstone. On Aug. 13, 1977, she married Herbert A. Sundheimer Jr., who died Jan. 12, 2009.
She attended First Christian Church, Warsaw, and has been a resident of Kosciusko County, for the past 80 years. She worked as a nurse for more than 40 years, retiring in 1980. She was a charter member of the V.F.W. a member of the American Legion, and a member of the Moose Lodge. She was a longtime volunteer at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
Surviving are three sons: Scott (and spouse Carol) Davis, Las Vegas, Nev.; Merle (and spouse Pat) Warren, Fort Wayne; David VanderVeen, Milwaukee, Wis.; two daughters, Judy Dewlen, Covington, and Dalene Goshert, Winona Lake; two stepsons: Stanley (and spouse Jet) Sundheimer, Cicero, and Alan Sundheimer, Elletsville; two stepdaughters, Gaye (and spouse James) Haist, Wheaton, Ill., and Dina (and spouse Larry) Glass, Noblesville; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Warsaw First Christian Church, Warsaw, with Pastor Gary Boschain officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Falls Cemetery, Wabash.
Calling is from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church.
Redpath-Fruth Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, is in charge or arrangements.
