Phyllis Jean McKillip, 68, Fort Wayne, originally of Warsaw, died at 10 p.m. April 12, 2013, in her son’s Fort Wayne residence.
She was born July 24, 1944, in Kingsport, Tenn., to Tony and Dolly McCracken Hensley. On Feb. 11, 1993, in Austin, Texas, she married Brian K. McKillip, who died Dec. 5, 2012.
She was a 1962 Leesburg High School graduate and a 1986 Southwest Texas University graduate. She taught 20 years for the Austin Independent School District, retired in 1994, and was owner of Maplewood Hairdressers, Fort Wayne, and Austin Beauty College, Austin, Texas. She was a Wolf Klan mother for Red Nation Chickamauga Cherokee, and a published author of 10 books. Her pen name was Truth Seeker.
Surviving are two sons, James (and spouse Sheryl) Konkle, Fort Wayne, and Joshua (and spouse Emily) Konkle, Austin; a granddaughter, Grace Konkle, Fort Wayne; three grandsons, Joseph Konkle, Fort Wayne; Noah Konkle, Austin; and Brendan Paul-Wood, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and a great-granddaughter, Makenzie. She was preceded in death by her father, who died Feb. 15, 1984; her mother, who died March 10, 2005; and a son, Jeffrey Konkle, who died June 8, 2004.
Services for Phyllis and her husband, Brian, will be at noon Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
