She was born July 28, 1929, in Bourbon, to Ernest Edward Neidig and Mabel Marie Craig Neidig. On June 2, 1949, she married Max Robert Faulkner, who survives.
She was a resident of the Bourbon area all her life. She retired from Triton School Corp. after 15 years. She was a first-grade teacher, retiring in 2001. She was a graduate of Bourbon High School where she was valedictorian of the class of 1947. She continued her education at Indiana University where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees in elementary education. She earned an Eli Lilly grant to study education in Belize in 1996. She was a faithful member of the Bourbon United Pentecostal Church where she touched many young lives. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, sewing, knitting and reading in her spare time.
Also surviving are a daughter, Teresa Ann (and spouse Mokhles) Sedra, Cairo, Egypt; five sons: Eric Robert (and spouse Pamela) Faulkner, Indianapolis; Kirby Todd Faulkner, Evansville; Christopher Faulkner, Atwood; Nathan Max Faulkner and Seth David (and spouse Kathy) Faulkner, all of Bourbon; a sister, Ruth (and spouse Bill) Gombos; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Maxine Faulkner; a granddaughter, Carissa J. Faulkner-Bruner; two sisters, Roma Dinius and Marjorie Cook; and four brothers; William Neidig, Joe Neidig, Gene Springer and Jim Neidig.
A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Bourbon United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Mark Cottrill officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
