He was born March 22, 1931, in Mooreland, to Omer and Mary Ethel Mann Snodgress. On June 18, 1954, in Blountsville, he married Mary Ditton, who survives.
He entered the U.S. Navy October 20, 1950, served in the Korean War on the USS Lindenwald and EM3 Phillip Lee Snodgress was honorably discharged in Boston, Mass., Aug. 13, 1954.
Moving to Warsaw from Middletown in 1974, he worked at Delco Remy, Anderson, for 12 years and was an electrician at Eaton Control Corp., North Manchester, retiring in 1993 with 18 years of service. He was a 1949 graduate of Mooreland High School. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, Indiana University basketball and Cincinnati Reds baseball.
Also surviving are a son, Dave Snodgress, Warsaw; a grandson, Phillip M. (and spouse Sarah) Snodgress, Warsaw; a sister, Ethelda Reed, Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, infant Eugene Snodgress; Cleon Snodgress; Lowell Snodgress, who died in November 1978; and Edward Snodgress, who died Oct. 4, 2005.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Dennis Bollenbacher of New Beginnings Community Church, Atwood. Burial will be at a later date in Mooreland Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. There will be military honors by members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126 and American Legion Post 49.
