Students at Pierceton Elementary School participated in the 'Learn Not to Burn' program presented by the Fort Wayne Fire Department. Students learned the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors and drawing and practicing a home escape plan. According to Captain Dave Meadows, it is vitally important that children learn proper respect and use of fire. Fire normally is a friend that all of us use every day, but when it becomes an enemy it can be a very unforgiving enemy. Fire and burn injuries don't just happen to 'that other family', it can happen to your family also. Pictured is first-grader Kiel McCoy trying on fire gear.[[In-content Ad]]
