SYRACUSE - Pegge Bean Bowland, 74, of Syracuse, died at 3 a.m. March 14, 2007, in her residence.

She was born May 21, 1932, in Nappanee, to Raymond and Grayce Smeltzer Hare. In November 1951, she married Roy "Jack" Bean. On Feb. 14, 1980, she married Francis "Mark" Bowland, who died in 1991.

A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker and a member of First Brethren Church and American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliaries, all in Nappanee.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Andrea Renee) Hochstetler, Port Charlotte, Fla.; a son, Jeff Bean, Nappanee; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Patricia) Middaugh, Nappanee; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse, with Pastor Brad Cox officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
