Peabody Retirement Community 'Celebrates The Ageless Spirit' With The Peabody Entertainers

NORTH MANCHESTER – “One hundred years of Broadway” will be presented by the Peabody Entertainers Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 29 at 2 p.m.
Both shows are in the Peabody Chapel, 400 W. 7th St., North Manchester. They are free to the public.
A little more than 100 years ago the American Theater opened for business on the 42nd Street in the heart of Manhattan. It was to be the first of many theaters in that part of town – the area which became known around the world as “Broadway”.
From the music of Tin Pan Alley to state-of-the-art-contemporary Broadway, The Peabody Entertainers celebrates the history of Broadway and America’s great heritage of musical theater with a musical revue of songs from many Broadway shows.
The Peabody Entertainers consists of residents, employees and friends of Peabody Retirement Community, directed by Carol Davis, a long-time resident of Peabody.
The entertainers include the Rev. Sue Babovec, Phyllis Barger, Sam Barrett, Madelyn Bechtold, Christine Beery, Rosemary Bolinger, Carolyn Fedewa, Kathryn Huntington, Bea Knarr, Esther Malott, Marsha Mort, Nancy Nesbit, Miriam Rusher, Donna Williams, Stan Williams, with narrators Joyce Adkins and Wanda Woodward and accompanist Lois Dickinson. [[In-content Ad]]At Peabody, there is something special happening every day, according to Sue Roesner, director of sales and marketing. The lives of senior adults are enriched through recreation, education and culture in an atmosphere of grace, compassion and respect. Seniors of all ages, at all stages of life, celebrate the ageless spirit, she said.
