COLUMBIA CITY – Paul V. Sheets, 74, of Columbia City, and formerly of Larwill, died at 8 a.m. Sept. 26, 2011, in Parkview Oaks, where he was a resident since Aug. 4.

He was born Aug. 6, 1937, in Willet, N.Y., to Evan Lowell and Goldie Catherine Walters Sheets. On June 10, 1961, he married Lois A. May, who survives.

On May 6, 1960, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged Aug. 8, 1961. He retired in 2009 from UniRoyal with 31 years of service.

Also surviving are three children, Michael (and spouse Charlene) Sheets and Theresa Tucker, all of Columbia City; and Robert (and spouse Theresa) Sheets, Kimmell; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers: Eldon “Bud” Sheets, Tri Lakes; Raymond Sheets, Larwill; and Norman Sheets, Warsaw; and three sisters, Mary Corner and Ann Brower, both of Columbia City, and Ilene Alice Stewart, South Whitley. He was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers and a sister.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in Eberhard Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
