COLUMBIA CITY - Paul M. Leitch, 84, of Albion, died at 9:45 p.m. Feb. 13, 2009, in his daughter's residence in Silver Lake.

He was born May 7, 1924, in Avilla, to Merl O. and Fannie Hossinger Leitch. On Feb. 19, 1944, he married J. Maurine Willits, who survives.

He graduated from Churubusco High School. On Aug. 28, 1943, he was inducted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged with a Purple Heart and Bronze Stars on Dec. 30, 1945. Formerly of Churubusco, he moved to Albion in 1961, and his present home in 1986. While living in Churubusco, he managed the Churubusco Feed Mill. From 1961-79, he owned and operated the Albion Locker Storage. Following his retirement, he worked at Trailer Express for a few years. He was a former Churubusco fireman and a member of American Legion Post 246 and Repeater 21 Amateur Radio Club.

Also surviving are three children: Nikki M. (and spouse Terry) Marker, Silver Lake; Douglas M. (and spouse Jinna) Leitch, Albion; and Kim (and spouse Jeff) Hoover, Ligonier; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis (and spouse Robert) Zolman, Churubusco. She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with the Rev. Bill Farmer officiating. Burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.

Calling is from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
