Paul Edward Salyer, 71, of 360 E. CR 350N, Warsaw, passed away at 7:35 p.m. March 7, 2011, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Feb. 18, 1940, in Salyersville, Ky., to Wendell and Nannie Patrick Salyer, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 26, 1960, he married Darlene Kay Schipper, who died in 1997.
A resident of Kosciusko County for the past 45 years, he was a member of Living Hope Ministries, Warsaw, and Warsaw Masonic Lodge 73. He was a pattern maker at Dalton Foundries, Warsaw, as well as working at Hand Industries and Dirilyte until 1976, when he along with Bill Hough and partners founded Othy Inc., Warsaw. He was a Tool & Die Maker and a developer with the surgeons in instrumentation, developing a number of patents. He became vice president of research and development of Othy, retiring July 19, 2001.
He will be lovingly remembered by a son, Brian (and spouse Stephanie) Salyer, Warsaw; two grandchildren, Brooke and Ashley Salyer; a brother, James (and spouse Ann) Salyer, Arcadia, Fla,; and a sister, Patty Back, Salyersville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor William Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
