SYRACUSE - Paul E. Hopkins, 71, of Warsaw, died at 7:45 p.m. June 3, 2009, in his residence.

He was born May 1, 1938, in Silver Lake, to George Franklin and Pearl Risner Hopkins. On Aug. 4, 1963, in North Webster, he married Pamela J. Wagoner, who survives.

A lifetime Kosciusko County area resident, he attended Claypool High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver for Essex Group Inc., Columbia City, for five years, retiring in 1998. He was a former truck driver for Pierceton Trucking Co. Inc. and Arrow Motor Transport for several years. He was a member of American Legion Post 49, Warsaw.

Also surviving are two daughters, Paula (and spouse Steve) Foltz, Etna Green, and Melody (and spouse Doug) Luecke, Warsaw; a son, Dean (and spouse Dino) Hopkins, St. Petersburg, Fla.; two grandsons; and two brothers, James Delbert Hopkins, Redford, Mich., and George "J.R." (and spouse Beverly) Hopkins, Eloy, Ariz. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with the Revs. Wayne Whitaker and Mark Wagoner officiating. Burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery with military graveside rites by members of the American Legion Post 49, Warsaw.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
