He was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Oswego, to Dallys and Gladys Dausman Popenfoose. On July 25, 1981, in Warsaw, he married Clara Carroll Popenfoose, who survives.
A graduate of North Webster High School, he worked at Dalton Foundries 37 years, retiring in 1993.
Also surviving are his three daughters, Paula Edwards, Christine (and spouse Doug) Shenefield and Julie Shaw, all of Leesburg; three sons: Kenneth (and spouse Ann) Popenfoose and Melvin (and spouse Dixie) Shaw, all of Warsaw; and David (and spouse Eva) Shaw, Melbourne, Fla.; two brothers, Gary (and spouse Barbara) Popenfoose, Leesburg, and Samuel (and spouse Ann) Popenfoose, Warsaw; a sister, Linda Taylor, Warsaw; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Juanita; three sons, Lenny, Larry and Michael; a son-in-law, Robert; a brother-in-law, Ron; and a grandson, James.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Maureen Mauzy officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
