Warsaw Park Board reviewed a rental agreement request form for the Pete Thorn Center gymnasium Tuesday.

The board agreed that city attorney Mike Valentine should review the rental agreement, determine if  individuals renting the gym need liability insurance and provide a recommendation back to the park board.

The board will review the rental agreement again at its December meeting.

The rental fee for the gym was proposed at $40 an hour.

Upon approval, a signed lease, rules and regulations document, and non-refundable deposit of 50 percent of rental fees will be due within seven days to secure rental of the gymnasium.

The rental form states one adult per every 10 youth is required during rental.

The capacity for rentals at the gym is 260 people.

The agreement states a renter must pay a $100 damage deposit to the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department separately from the rental balance, and paid in cash or money order.

Upon termination of the rental agreement, the parks department will inspect the premises and evaluate any damages before refunding any or all of the damage deposit.

Renters also must adhere to a gymnasium rules and regulations policy.

The gym use will be prioritized and given consideration for the following entities: City of Warsaw/Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department, Kosciusko Community Senior Services, not-for-profit and governmental organizations, other groups and individuals and private enterprise groups.

In other business, the board approved adopting a five-year master plan for Warsaw parks.[[In-content Ad]]
