Warsaw Park Board heard Tuesday there are three parks department job title changes.

The changes are to better identify job duties, and assist the community in knowing who to contact with questions and concerns at the parks department.

Larry Plummer, Warsaw parks superintendent, said Sheila Wieringa is serving as parks administrative assistant to replace Gail Bryan who retired Jan. 6. Bryan’s former job title was office manager.

Staci Young’s job title will be changed from activities director to recreation director.

Shaun Gardner will serve as head of maintenance for the parks department.

The park director job title has been eliminated that was previously held by Plummer who is no longer park director and now is park superintendent.

There will now be a maintenance head job title to replace the park director title.

Gardner informed the board that Allan Ross, Young Tiger Football, made a $1,450 donation to the parks department from proceeds the organization collected from the community for hot cocoa, popcorn, and cookie sales in Central Park during the Christmas light display.

The funds will be put toward Christmas light displays for next year in Central Park.

The board approved allowing sawhorses and picnic tables to be delivered to homes and businesses from April 1-October 15.

Also during the meeting, Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer swore in Michelle Boxell to serve on the board. She replaces Toby Sumpter on the board.

New city council representative on the board, Jerry Frush was introduced to the council. Frush replaces Diane Quance on the board.

The board reviewed Campsite Rule additions for Pike Lake Campground.

The campsites are arranged back to back. The limits of the campsite extend between the yellow lines on the pavement and up to electrical boxes in the middle of the rows.

Another addition is that a camp fee is for one family only. Overnight guests must register in the office and pay a $1 per night fee.

For people’s convenience, the campground has floating pier docks available which may be reserved for a nominal fee. Firewood also is available for a nominal fee.

Plummer informed the board he has been talking with Anderson Property Management to manage the flower beds in Central Park.[[In-content Ad]]
