PIERCETON – Paragon Medical Inc. announced Thursday it has signed an agreement with German metalworking company Michael Bubolz GmbH to acquire its medical device segment.
Headquartered in Stuhr, Germany, and with a facility in Siechnice, Poland, Michael Bubolz manufactures close-tolerance surgical instrumentation and a variety of orthopedic implantable components, and also provides complete sterile pack products. The medical device business will be consolidated into the current 40,000-square-foot facility in Poland, where it will employ over 200 people, according to the announcement.
Although Paragon has a presence in Europe with an engineering and sales facility in Lausanne, Switzerland, the company says acquiring its first manufacturing site in the region brings critical global manufacturing capacity and significant growth potential.
Tobias Buck, CEO, president and chairman of the board for Paragon Medical, said in the release, “This acquisition is yet another stepping stone to enhance Paragon’s position as a strategic partner for the medical device (original equipment manufacturing) community worldwide, and creates a geographic center of excellence for applications in the trauma, spine, sports medicine and large joint segment of orthopaedics.”
Paragon, a precision contract manufacturer for the global orthopedic industry, is a tier 1 supplier of custom and standard surgical instrument delivery systems, custom and standard surgical instrumentation, implantable components and design and development services to the medical device marketplace. Incorporated in 1991 and headquartered in Pierceton, Paragon has facilities in the U.S., Europe and China.[[In-content Ad]]
