SYRACUSE – Owen Marion Snyder, 76, Cromwell, passed away at 5:43 p.m. Feb. 28, 2015, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Sept. 24, 1938, in Fort Wayne, to Marion and Orleta Schwartz Snyder. On Nov. 21, 1980, in Cromwell, he married Peggy Eileen Peace Overfelt, who preceded him in death July 19, 2007.
He grew up in Fort Wayne, graduated from South Side High School and was in the Army National Guard. He lived most of his life in the Kosciusko/Noble counties area except for nine years in Ashby, Mass. He worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne for 12 years, and was a self-employed painter.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge, Syracuse.
He is survived by a daughter, Sheila Pelletier, Templeton, Mass.; two sons, Gregory Snyder, Leominster, Mass., and Phillip Snyder, Warsaw; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters: Debbie Smith, Indianapolis; Darla (and spouse Odell) Frasure, Milford; Marcia (and spouse Marty) Nading, Indianapolis; a stepson, Dan (and spouse Cathy) Overfelt, Waynetown; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Linda Stout; a stepson, Mike Overfelt; a stepdaughter, Marlene Overfelt; and a brother, Neil Snyder.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, with Pastor William Whitaker of the Warsaw Family Worship Center officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the IOOF Cemetery, 1109 Hartzell Road, New Haven.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
