OSWEGO - Take a step back in time to the era of 1765-1865 during the Oswego Trader days.

This year's festival is May 19-20 on the traditional campgrounds, south of Armstrong Road off First Street.

Trader goods - everything from goods crafted by a blacksmith, glass beads, leather and clothing - will be available. Inspect the many types of camps established on the grounds and learn about marquees, tepees and wall tents.[[In-content Ad]]Demonstrations include making a primitive long bow, blacksmithing, black powder shooting and sheep shearing.

"Johnny Appleseed" is scheduled to appear throughout the weekend.

Saturday's events include the ever-popular ladies skillet throw at 10 a.m.; the hawk and knife throw at 11 a.m.; a pie-eating contest at 12:30 p.m.; black powder shoot at 1 p.m.; primitive archery shoot at 3 p.m.; and the booshway event at 4:30 p.m.

The booshway event is whatever the booshway decides it is, so be prepared.

Sunday events include the hawk and knife throw at 11:30 a.m.; the black powder shoot at 1 p.m. with demonstration on how to load, shoot and clean the guns. At 2 p.m. the Mountain Man contest begins with an archery shoot, followed by a firestarting contest.

Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children ages 12 to 17 and free for children younger than age 12.

Food will be provided by the Mid-Lakes Lions, who will serve barbecue chicken, pork rinds, kettle corn, pickles on a stick and much more.
