He was born July 14, 1944, in Rochester, to Maynard “Hap” and Josephine Hopkins McCloughan. On Jan. 11, 1964, in Burket, he married Betty J. Holloway, who survives in Akron.
He retired seven years ago from Wabash Alloys, where he worked as a truck driver for over 20 years. He attended the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church. He enjoyed horses, fishing, rebuilding cars, woodworking, landscaping and gardening, baking and most of all his family. He and his wife invested their time since 1996 building a beautiful home that represented their love for nature and life.
Also surviving are four daughters: Shelly (and spouse Bryan) Sausaman, Yellow Creek Lake; Diane (and spouse Dennis) Lane, Lukens Lake; Sue (and spouse Troy) Hoffman, Silver Lake; Lisa McCloughan, Laketon; five grandchildren: Derek and Jason Sausaman; Chelsea, Jade and Noah Hoffman; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte (and spouse Elmon) Bays, Silver Lake; a special brother, Tom (and spouse Bonnie) Holloway, Akron. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Marie Hollon and Joyce Overlander.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Butch Troke officiating.
Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
