It can be difficult for young adults graduating from high school or college to connect with others their age in a healthy environment.

Wayne and Janine Luchenbill, Leesburg, have been working with a planning committee to provide an opportunity for 18-30-year-olds in Kosciusko County to network and build friendships with others their age.[[In-content Ad]]"Odd Fridays" participants will meet on the first and third Friday of each month at Baker Youth Club in Warsaw.

A kick-off pizza party will be Friday at 7:59 p.m. at Baker Youth Club. There will be a $5 admission charge.

Other events are being planned for future Fridays, including music by live bands, basketball, volleyball, arcade games, ping pong and pool. There will be an admission charge to attend each event.

"Our goal is to simply provide a place with a positive atmosphere where post-high school and -college young adults can feel comfortable and have a good time," Janine said.

Because the parties will take place on the first and third Fridays, the gatherings are being called "Odd Fridays."

The couple's intent is to have four older couples and young adults on the planning committee who are committed to the project. The committee currently consists of three couples and six young adults from the community who have been meeting for five weeks planning for "Odd Fridays."

Janine said people can drop in for a short while or stay the whole time to network with others their age during "Odd Fridays." Events will be be non-smoking, non-alcoholic and drug free.

At the gatherings, there will be sign-up sheets for those who wish to team up with others who have similar interests.

Janine said the intent of the group is to provide a networking opportunity for young adults to connect with those who share their interests.

The organization welcomes financial donations from churches, businesses or organization to help with food and rental costs.

People wanting to serve on the planning committee or would like to find out more about "Odd Fridays" should call Wayne at 574-265-5374 or Janine at 574-265-5575.
