Obama's Health Care

Today I would like to tell you why Barack Obama's health care plan would be best for our nation and our community.
For starters, let's get one thing out of the way. This is not "socialized" medicine, this is not "universal" health care. It is affordable health care. With a good number of Hoosiers uninsured or underinsured, many people are not able to get the treatment they need to get well and many more have to go into debt or go bankrupt if a medical emergency arises.
Barack Obama will ensure that every American is given the same health care coverage that our members of congress receive.
According to the campaign, "His plan will lower health care costs by $2,500 and help small businesses, the backbone of our rural economies. Barack Obama also has a bold, detailed plan that recognizes the unique health care needs of rural Indiana. He is committed to attracting health care providers to underserved rural communities, expanding community clinics, increasing the number of rural veteran health centers, and investing in health information technology and telemedicine. I might add that investment in new technology will have many positive effects on our wonderful orthopedic manufacturers in this county. He knows the unique challenges families in rural America face as the often have to travel hours for quality health care, and his plan addresses those concerns. Importantly, these plans are part of a broader vision for rural Indiana of ensuring economic opportunity for family farmers, supporting rural economic development, and improving rural education and infrastructure and combating the scourge of methamphetamine on rural communities."
Many of us have seen what meth addiction can do to friends, family or coworkers. We know that it is a major problem in town. Barack Obama has distinguished himself as the singular candidate who has taken a stance on this issue.
According to a campaign fact sheet, "Barack Obama's record of fighting the meth epidemic extends back to his time in the Illinois State Senate, where he helped pass legislation to increase penalties against meth manufacturers. As president, he will work to rid Indiana of meth and to address its lingering effects on families and communities. He will restrict imports of meth chemicals, expand family treatment programs that keep families intact, and establish standards that identify former meth labs as safe and livable."
Barack Obama knows that there are specific problems in our everyday lives that we have often had to address ourselves because we have had no one in Washington looking out for us. He knows that to strengthen us, the small town Americans, will in turn strengthen others, and they will strengthen others as well, until the whole country is strong and true to the countries founding doctrines. It all starts with us.
