The third annual “Hot Chili Nights” First Friday is Nov. 2 in downtown Warsaw.
The event is from 5 to 8 p.m.
The First Friday committee is looking for the best chili chefs in town.
The contest is open to all restaurants, private individuals and groups, according to Paula Bowman, First Friday coordinator.
People who are interested in competing as a chili chef can obtain an application at the Warsaw Community Development Corp. website at warsawcdc.org or call Bowman at 574-376-0233.
Chili chefs are asked to provide six to 10 gallons of chili, a way to keep it warm, a table, serving utensils and a list of ingredients.
There will be three categories that will be judged, including beef chili, non-beef chili and vegetarian chili with no meat products.
Judging will be a penny per vote for People’s and Judge’s choices.
Wrist bands and spoons for sampling will be available for $2 at the information booth.
There will be merchant  specials, open mic night, hayrides, inflatable games,  hot cider and smores.
Bowman also wants the community to know sponsors and tree decorators are needed for the Festival of Trees that is being planned Nov. 17 to Dec. 11 in downtown Warsaw.
Christmas trees will be displayed in the new city hall and in downtown stores.
The Festival of Trees is a fundraiser for Habitat For Humanity of Kosciusko County and Beaman Home.
Those who attend the festival are asked to bring canned food items that will be donated to Toys For Tots and local food pantries.
Call Bowman to be a tree sponsor or decorator at 574-376-0233.
