NOTICE OF SOLICITATION OF BIDS
BY THE TOWN OF PIERCETON
FOR RESIDENTIAL TRASH PICK UP AND DISPOSAL
    Notice is hereby given, that the Town of Pierceton, Indiana is now soliciting bids for a three (3) year period beginning January 1, 2013 and ending 11:59 p.m. December 31, 2015.
    The Pick-up and disposal of all solid waste from residential units (establishments) within the Town, at least once each week, (approximately 360-390 residential units), beginning January 1, 2013. Service shall be on the same days and hours each week for respective sections of the Town, but pick-up on Wednesday is preferred and will be given preference over bids for pick up on other days.
    Bids shall be submitted on an annual or monthly basis but with the understanding that the Town will be making its payments on the contract monthly.
    Bidders, must submit, along with their bid:
    1. A financial statement, a statement of experience, the bidder's
    proposed plan or plans for performing the contract, and the
    equipment that the bidder has available for the performance of the
    contract. The statement shall be submitted on forms prescribed by
    the state board of accounts.
    2. An affidavit that the bidder has not entered into a combination or
    agreement: (i) relative to the price to be bid by a person; (ii) to
    prevent a person from bidding; or (iii) to induce a person to refrain
    from bidding; and (iv) that the bidder's bid is made without
    reference to any other bid.

    The contract to be signed with Town Council by the successful bidder, will among other things, require the bidder to:
    1. provide a performance bond with acceptable surety or an
    acceptable certified check or cash in the amount of 10% of the
    annualized bid amount.
    2. furnish proof of, and maintain (i) public liability, property damage
    and personal injury insurance with policy limits of not less than
    $1,000,000.00 per occurrence; and (ii) workers compensation
    insurance.
    3. comply with I.C. 22-5-1.7 and in accordance with said law, to
    enroll in and verify the work eligibility status of all newly hired
    employees of the contractor through the E-Verify program unless
    the E-Verify program no longer exists; and
    4. sign an affidavit affirming that the contractor (bidder) does not
    knowingly employ an unauthorized alien.
    5. certify in writing that it is not engaged in investment activities in
    Iran, as required by I.C. 5-22-16.5, except as is otherwise provided
    in said statute.
    Except as is otherwise provided in I.C. 5-22-16.5 a bid by any person or business who is on the list as set forth in the statute, or has investment activities in Iran is a non-responsible bidder.
    Bids shall be sealed and will be opened at the November 5, 2012 meeting of the Town Council at 6:35 p.m. at the Pierceton Community Building located at 105 Walnut Street, Pierceton, Indiana. Sealed bids may be presented at the meeting or in advance at the Clerk-Treasurer's office, located at 105 Walnut Street, but with a mailing address of P.O. Box 496, Pierceton, IN 46562. The Pierceton Town Council may award the bids as provided by statute, take the bids under advisement or reject all bids.
