HARVARD, Ill. – Norman L. Beigh, 93, of Harvard, Ill., died May 29, 2012, in Mercy Harvard Care Center.

He was born June 2, 1918, in Claypool, to Arlie Franklin and Laurena Catherine Karns Beigh. On Oct. 4, 1953, in Detroit, he married Myriam Dorothy Small, who survives.

He served in the U.S. Army-Air Force from 1941-45, stationed at Baer Field, Fort Wayne. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural and mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 1951. He worked for Ford Tractor Division, Flint, Mich., and J.I. Case, Fort Wayne, then moved to Harvard in 1963 to work for Starline Manufacturing as a mechanical engineer. He worked for Starline until 1970 and then at various small companies for a few years until he went to work for Foxcroft Metals, Crystal Lake, in 1977. He retired in 1988.

Also surviving are his children: Dorn Kevin Beigh (and Karen Licht), Harvard; Lance Galen Beigh, Peotone;  Annalise Heidi Hayes, Crystal Lake; Vinn Kirby (and Joan Shapiro) Beigh, Chicago; Melanie Denise Marquez (and Juan Antonio), West Chicago; and Maylee Petrisse (and spouse Thomas) Macuk, McHenry; 13 grandchildren; a  great-grandchild; and a sibling, Audra Beigh Rhoades, Pierceton. He was preceded in death five siblings and a granddaughter.

A graveside service was Thursday at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Harvard, with the Rev. Jim Bell officiating.
