Norman D. Metzger, 67, of Claypool, died at 12:31 p.m. Dec. 22, 2007, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born Oct. 4, 1940, in Warsaw, to Donald "Buck" and Ruth Gebert Metzger.

Living in the Kosciusko and Whitley counties area most of his life, he was a forklift driver at International Truck and Engine for 35 years, retiring in 2000. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961-64. He was a member of American Legion Post 258, Pierceton.

Surviving are his mother, Ruth Harris, Claypool; four daughters: Stephanie (and spouse Kevin) Swain, Warsaw; Laura (and spouse Len) Jones, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Annette and Rosalie, both of Indiana; a son, Brian, Florida; stepchildren, Carrie (and spouse Tom) Stump, Pierceton, and Ty Brown, Lake City, Fla.; a sister, Becky Boocher, Warsaw; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Rosalie Metzger; and a brother, Steve Metzger.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Washington Union Cemetery, Pierceton, with military honors.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
