Non-Profit Budgets Reviewed

The proposed 2009 budgets for the organizations total $164,450.
After the council heard budget requests, Mayor Ernie Wiggins said the council will take the requests under advisement.
Warsaw Community Development Inc. requested the largest budget increase. The organization is requesting $24,800 for its 2009 budget, a $12,200 increase over last year's $12,600 request.
WCDC's mission is to encourage economic development of Warsaw's central business district. Cindy Dobbins, WCDC director, said the request is to return the organization to a stronger financial positions.
The organization requested the city allocate $19,800 for WCDC operating expenses in 2009.
The budget also included a request for $5,000 that would be placed in a restricted account designated specifically for promoting downtown Warsaw.
Dobbins said WCDC would like to apply for a $10,000 downtown enhancement grant through the Indiana Main Street Promotion Fund.
The grant is a competitive grant designed to enhance the development and revitalization of downtown business districts in Indiana's Main Street communities that requires an application match of $5,000.
"I believe this project will help to create an image for downtown Warsaw and will assist in developing unity among existing businesses in addition to stimulating the growth of new businesses in downtown Warsaw," Dobbins said.
The City-County Athletic Compldex is again requesting $34,000 for its 2009 budget for its operating costs.
Warsaw Housing Authority is requesting $25,000 for its housing voucher program.
Housing Opportunities of Warsaw is requesting $25,000. HOW requested $30,000 last year.
Kosciusko Area Bus Service is again requesting $25,000 for its public transportation services.
Sus Amigos is requesting $9,000. The organization requested $17,500 last year. Sus Amigos has two full-time personnel and the funds will cover the employees' wages.
Kosciusko Development Inc. is requesting $5,150 to assist new and expanding companies, job creation and attraction of business investment. The organization requested $5,750 last year.
Animal Welfare League is again requesting $16,500 for operating funds, salaries and animal care.[[In-content Ad]]
