No Honor

Every once in a while, I will hear or read the phrase "Honor among thieves." It never fails to confuse me because if they had honor they would be something other than thieves. I have never heard the expression "Honor among politicians." Why do you suppose that is?
After looking over the field of candidates in the 2008 presidential campaign, I can only conclude that as unlikely as it might be to find honor among thieves, there is absolutely no chance of finding honor among politicians. In fact, it is my considered opinion that if some of them were to awake some morning and suddenly discover there was a shred of honor in their soul, there would be no recourse but to commit suicide for what they have allowed to happen while serving in the various branches of government. Don't worry though, that's not going to happen. No, no, even if there were a shred of honor somewhere in their make-up it has been ignored for so long it would go unrecognized should it surface.
What right does any individual who has been a member of either body of congress - a governmental body with the lowest public approval ratings in history - have to assume that their performance to date and the impact of that performance on the American citizenry would entitle them to be elected to the highest public office in the land? These aren't candidates, these are opportunists who sense a void, or said another way a free ride on the gravy train, and assume the American voters are so unsophisticated and have been so conditioned to do the politically correct thing that they will be given a free ticket. I haven't decided who I will vote for, but I can guarantee you that it will not be someone who has been in Washington for the past six or more years looking out for the interests of the rest of the world and illegal immigrants at the expense of the citizens of this country.
Getting closer to home, has anyone recently reviewed the voting records of our illustrious senators from Indiana? Both have recorded positions that would entitle illegal immigrants, who are in this country in violation of the law of the land, to receive social security benefits. I fail to see where this is in the best interest of the citizen taxpayers of the United States or those of Indiana. Who were these politicians sent to Washington to represent?
There is an arrogance in our elected officials that ignores what the voters, mandate and what they themselves think is best. We need to turn all of them out of office and elect a more responsive government at every level, city, county, state and federal. Time is running out. Let's not elect or re-elect proven losers. This is a great country and should not be compromised by partisan or elitist politicians. Vote America for Americans!
